How Much Stearic Acid in Paraffin Wax

On the amount of stearic acid in wax
Where wax is made, the amount of stearic acid is the key to its quality and efficiency. However, this amount is subject to many factors.

View the use of wax, if it is a wax for ordinary lighting, the amount of stearic acid should be slightly reduced. The wax for covering lighting focuses on the stability of combustion. If there is too much stearic acid, it may cause the wax to be too hard and the burning time will not be smooth. Approximately five to eight parts of stearic acid for every 100 parts of paraffin wax can keep the light stable and the flame even.

If it is a shaping wax, if it is used for carving or molding, there are special requirements for the hardness and plasticity of the wax. At this time, the amount of stearic acid should be increased as appropriate. About ten to fifteen parts of stearic acid per hundred parts of paraffin wax can make the wax have appropriate hardness at room temperature, easy to shape, and good plasticity after heating, which can accurately present the desired shape.

And the quality of the wax, the pure texture of paraffin wax, stearic acid and it is easier to adapt. If the paraffin contains a little more impurities, the amount of stearic acid needs to be fine-tuned according to the impurities. For those with more oily impurities, stearic acid can be slightly increased to balance its viscosity and hardness; for those with more solid impurities, stearic acid may be slightly reduced, and the wax-free is too hard to use.

Furthermore, the temperature and humidity of the environment also affect. In warm and humid places, the amount of stearic acid should be reduced to prevent the wax from becoming soft and deformed during storage or use; in cold and dry places, stearic acid can be slightly increased to maintain good physical properties of the wax.

When making wax, it is necessary to carefully consider all factors and fine-tune the amount of stearic acid to obtain a suitable wax to meet the needs of all things.
