Make Hypophosphorous Acid from Phosphoric Acid

The method of preparing hypophosphoric acid from phosphoric acid
If you want to make hypophosphoric acid from phosphoric acid, it is not easy, so you need to be reasonable and careful.

Phosphoric acid is more stable than hypophosphoric acid. If you want to change it, you must add other things to it. The common method is to use a strong reducing agent.

Prepare equipment, clean reactor, measuring device, etc., do not disturb impurities. Take an appropriate amount of phosphoric acid and place it in the reactor. Use zinc powder or aluminum powder as reducing agent and add it slowly. These two are active metals and have strong reducing properties. When adding it, you need to pay attention to the reaction state, lest it be violent.

Add it up, slightly hot. The heat cannot be passed to prevent side effects from occurring. In the meantime, observe its color change and gas output. The reaction gradually slows down, let it stand, and let the solid-liquid divide by itself.

Then, take the supernatant. By distillation, remove its impurities and moisture. During distillation, control its temperature, and the boiling point of hypophosphoric acid is different from others, so it can be purified.

After multiple operations, hypophosphoric acid can be obtained. However, this process needs to be carried out with caution, familiar with the principles of chemistry, and abide by safety regulations before it can be achieved.
