The relationship between monomers, macromolecules and polymers

Everything in the world has its own reason. In the way of material composition, there is also a close relationship between monomers, macromolecules and polymers.

Monomers are the basic units that form complex substances, and their shape is simple and pure, just like masonry in a vast building. Although the structure of monomers is relatively simple, they contain the potential to build complex substances.

Macromolecules are large in size and complex in structure, and are formed by connecting many atoms in a specific way. Macromolecules are either polymerized from monomers, or are naturally formed complex structures. Their properties and functions are more diverse than monomers, and they show different characteristics due to different atomic arrangements and combinations. The

polymer is a long chain or network structure formed by chemical polymerization of monomers. During the polymerization process, monomers are covalently connected to each other, like bricks and stones built into a solid city wall. The properties of polymers depend not only on the type and structure of the monomer, but also on the method and degree of polymerization.

Monomers are the building blocks of polymers and macromolecules. Without monomers, macromolecules and polymers cannot be talked about. Macromolecules can be the intermediate stage of polymer formation, or exist independently, with unique physical and chemical properties. Polymers are the products of orderly polymerization of monomers. With the combination and arrangement of monomers, they exhibit rich and diverse properties and are widely used in the world.

The three are interdependent, monomers polymerize into polymers, macromolecules are either polymers, or they play an independent role in the material world. This relationship is like the mutual growth of all things in nature, which together builds the complexity of the material world.
